In every situation there is more than one possible outcome/solution. But we usually chose one path and continue to follow it. We choose it based on circumstances of the occurring event, our mental and physical stages at that point which are influenced and shaped by the factors/elements of the environment the event is happening in. Our overall mentality, point of view on many aspects of life, and a survival instinct play also a role how we act and which path we choose.
In home or office environment it is easy to judge or lay out different path which, however, is also important and may be valuable for many in case of similar event they might be involved in the future. This is what education, trainings, practical exercises, and other forms of preparation are for.
