Can anyone offer climbing/gear/route suggestions for an early March climb of this peak?

From the south side (visible from the Los Angeles region) it usually takes nothing more than an ice axe and being in good shape. Its hard to tell what the conditions will be this far in advance, but typically the snow that does fall melts off pretty quickly. Ice Axe should be the minimum, maybe snow shoes if we get a lot of snowfall, and there's a small chance you'll need crampons or similar traction device (will be needed for early morning starts since any snow on the ground will freeze overnight). Which way are you planning to go, the Bear Trail or the Ski Hut Trail? (Ski Hut Trail is far and away the most popular).

Thanks so much. We were going to try this weekend but looks like inclement weather. Oh well!

Be careful up there. I know an experienced climber who unfortunately slipped at the "knife edge" and had to be rescued. He had an ice axe. People have died there. Years later with the same person he rocked it on a WI3 mountaineering route.
