Tollhouse? snore.......
J-Tree? on Thanksgiving weekend? Zoo with no campsites available? Not interested.

Good thing I already have a triathlon scheduled for that weekend. :D

I do agree with Luciano about selecting a peak that is easily attained by all ranks.....oooops, I mean climbers. And if partying is part of the plan, the climb shouldn't be something too massive.

Rock climbing at Trona? Or Alabama Hills? on some other weekend besides T-Day? because that's not winter anyway.

This has become a game of "who can win the match to drive the shortest distance", I think. :)

In light of that game, I'd like to point out that Yos is awesome in the winter and provides for everyone's wishes. Good climbing in the lower canyon and the valley, for all grades, peaks, trails and hikes to do, skiing/boarding, etc... and an abundance of campsites during that time.

Short of DOA gatherings, I'm not real big on the group things anyhow. It rarely leads to hard climbing the following day, makes for a late start, etc. It's certainly fun to meet up with folks and all, but I'd rather be out working hard. Goals, ya know.

Not at all! I just thought it would be good to stick to a level that most members are familiar/comfortable with. Not everyone has ropes, harnesses, etc. Most folks (hopefully LOL) do have a pair of hiking shoes...

Actually, it would give the opportunity to learn new skills with the mostly experienced technical climbers. Gee......sounds like a deal to me.

Yeah, I see that. Knock yourselves out.

Maybe we should do two.

1) a snowy peak hike/scramble
2) a rock climbing day

How about THAT for a compromise :)

hahaha Sometimes it feels that way. I run into friends in the valley I haven't talked to all year, as my partner and I have been so driven. People back in civilization give me crap about not seeing me too. It works out though. When it's tough and I want to slack, he's there to keep me in check, then vise versa. We've both been progressing at a good pace towards our climbing goals for next year, as a result.

I'm down for heading out to CO soon, Luciano, just haven't been able to swing it yet. I was really hoping to get out there to shoot (photo) some fall colors, do some climbing and some other special things. Soon.

Last Thanksgiving in JT was really awesome. I stayed in Ryan and climbed without crowds all weekend in Wonderland of Rocks. Not to mention a really fantastic company of Jan, Kris and the rest of the JT hardmen gang. Can't wait for this year's trip!

I know what you're saying. A while ago, I was on a weekly jaunt for almost a year straight. I got some crap for missing parties and other non-hiking get togethers with friends. I've been a little more 'moderate' since. If we get a good snow year, that might chance fast though :)

Yes!

DV would be an ideal place for such a gathering. Snow climbing, technical canyoneering, hiking, short routes/long routes, great scenery, weirdness, plenty of camping, a little something for everyone...except for rock climbers.
