Which valley? There is an 80" base in Lee Canyon, but the town has just has a few sprinkles. Pahrump was covered with white stuff a day or two ago.

The OP says that it was "snowing all the way down to the valley base" when flying out of Las Vegas. I interpret this to mean that it was snowing at the airport. I can't believe that there's much snow hanging around in RR, but maybe I'm wrong?

Yesterday (Tuesday), Red Rock got some snow on the ground, and I think the western (higher) parts of Vegas Valley got some as well. The Red Rock scenic loop drive is between 3600 and 4800 feet, and the west part of Vegas Valley (developed area) is over 3000 feet. DMT's plane flew over the west side of the valley upon departure.

Here in more pleasant Henderson, where I live, we had graupel followed by rain. I'm at 2100 feet here, far away from all the Scummerlin snow and yuppies.

The news showed that Pahrump Valley (next one over to the west) got snow on the ground, and Pahrump is only at 2700-ish.

Exactly. Of course not. Could you imagine if there were? All it would take is for one passenger with a cell phone (or even MP3 player ) to accidentally or deliberately have it powered up in his carry-on or stowed luggage, and the safety of the whole plane would be in jeopardy. So, no; there is no way the plane's electronic systems designers left it susceptible to interference from such commonplace personal electronic toys.

Yes, for sure graupel. Small, white, low-density pellets -- neither sleet nor hail.

The other night, we did have some thunderstorm activity, though. I forgot which night. Saturday?
