Clear all day with cold temps in the morning, made for superb skiing. Tax day and I got paid.

Depending on which forecast you believe, there may be an opportunity for a climb this weekend. Be safe and have fun!

I was on the 4-person rope team. We started at around 1:00 in the morning from high camp (10400 feet), and reached the summit at around 8:00.

The Catwalk was pretty narrow in a couple of spots. This was my first time up Casaval. In 2005 and 2006, I took the Avalanche Gulch route.

telewoman: It must be nice to live so close to the mountain. About how many times a year do you go up there?

dynamokiev: How did you like Sergeant's Ridge, compared with Casaval?

It looks like Andy from North Carolina. He was the only one in our group wearing an orange jacket.

Thanks for posting the photos. It might be interesting to try the Sergeant's Ridge route sometime.

WHO IS COMMING OUT THIS WEEKEND?! April 24-25th

Jeez, wish I could make the trip down. Would love to join you guys and climb it. As someone on here recently wrote me, "it's a great mountain to climb." Enjoy.

I would like to come down and give it a go in the next month or two if anyone's interested.

Looks like you guys had good conditions :) Nice work, guys.

Did anyone get current pics of that upper section of Cascade Gulch & the Whitney Glacier ? C'mon, help a brother out.

Very nice pics! Looks like we'll be there Monday/Tuesday, even though the forecast is a little iffy (bit of a trip of AZ, doing an acclimation hike on Boundary/Montgomery). Heading up Cassaval, hoping the Friday-Sunday weather window holds up a while.

Wish it weren't so freakin' far. From Socal, you need 4 days off to have a realistic shot at it.

Organizer of this thread: do you mind changing it to “Shasta April 23-25th” to see who is planning to go this coming weekend?
HOW ABOUT A BIG CA SP MEET ON CASAVAL?!

Pls start early and break trail for us old guys

Unfortunately, it's a 15-hour drive straight from Phoenix to Shasta. I've done that once and was wiped out by the time we got to the base of Misery Hill. Depending on how the weather is, we might go for a single push rather than camping at a high-spot.

I think the original thread *was* for this past weekend...slightly taken over by people asking for info about mountain conditions (myself included). Just hoping that snowshoes are not required :)

Nah, just joking around :) If you look at the forecast and the webcam you'll notice that it's been snowing there. I'd pack snowshoes.

I doubt you'd get very far without snowshoes

Sergeants Ridge 4/23 - 4/24

Myself and Joe are attempting a summit bid on Sunday morning. We are planning to sleep at the Bunny Flat trailhead Friday night. Start our mini expedition on Saturday morning early. We have never climbed Sergeants Ridge. If anyone needs partners this weekend we are down. We are from Chico, heading out Friday afternoon. Also we could use some tips. Any help would be great.

Thanks Ryan
