Mt Tallac Current Snow Conditions?

Any beta on the snow conditions of Mt Tallac right now? Will crampons/axe be needed?

Specifically, if anyone knows a recent comparison to the SE Chutes as compared to the Mt Tallac trail? I'd rather do the chutes but I'm still new to using my crampons and axe...I'm willing to go either way but the SE chutes would be more fun!

I'm hoping to go in a week. Thanks in advance for any beta on this. I've never posted a question but have benefited so much from this community and it's resources! Peace.

See this recent post in this thread:

Also, does anybody have any info on the Glenn Alpine route? Are the creek crossings between Lily and Gilmore negotiable? How much snow is there on the ground? is it hikeable without snowshoes?

To answer my question: the Glenn Alpine trails is pretty much free of snow and the remaining snow patches are easy to negotiate. The flow of the creeks is low and did not present any problem in the afternoon. Overall it was a very easy hike. The peak was crowded as usual, but most hikers came from the Mt Tallac trail, which is what makes the Glenn Alpine route a lot more pleasant.

Anyone have info on current Tallac conditions? Thinking of heading there next weekend.

I bagged castle and basin peak a couple weeks back without snow shoes or crampons and wondering if conditions are similar?

Climbed Tallac this past friday. A lot of snow still left about half way on the trail to the base of the mountain.

A lot of postholing... Some parts are dangerous because there are a lot of rocks underneath.

I wasn't able to park near the trail head due to the gates being locked until May.
