with all due respect to his abilities as a climber, from what i've read of Anker's treatment of Mallory's body, i'll pass on principle alone.

Well it was a good film. Well made. A good story about George Mallory and of Conrad's 2007 expedition retracing his steps. Definitely worth seeing in theaters for the cinematography.

Conrad is a super nice guy. He talked with everyone who had questions for him and gave out free posters with the topo map of Everest on the back thanks to North Face. Great to have access to such a good alpine climber.

They will be in Chicago tomorrow (Thursday) and other major US cities. Use the link and password on the original post to get free tickets. Thanks to REI & North Face for making these previews available to the climbing community.

Thanks for posting this Spider. It was nice meeting you and Michelle at the event, along with seeing a few other folks whom I knew from the trail or the SGMDF or WPSMB.

I found the historical footage most interesting. I especially got a chuckle out of seeing Russell Brice's name appear in the credits. Guess he and his band of merry Sherpa's were responsible for the fixed lines that appeared in the film...

SpiderSavage,

Thanks very much for this, Sir. I'm going to see it in DC on 8 Aug.

All the best

I was told that this little tour already went through San Francisco & Seattle last week. Apparently it was only promoted through REI & North Face stores.

I got the word from my AAC Section Chair.

Spider,

My thanks as well. I enjoyed the film and the Q & A afterwards. He is a good speaker.

I think a free down-climb of the 2nd step would have made the Mallory argument more compelling but thats my 2 cents.

Afterwards I looked for you and Fossana to say hello but the room was packed and I was short on time.

John, Sorry I missed you.

Hey, Mallory was BAD-ASS. Let's say he & Irvine made it, but then got attacked by the scary yeti thing on the down climb.
