You were up there Black Friday? So was I. We only saw about ten people all day.

We were the tall hippie couple.

Yep, me and Cap'tn Beefheart skinned up the rollercoaster run on the chair 4 side (west) got to the resort boundary around noon? maybe. We saw a couple small partys coming and going, meet some other SP'ers up there too.

I thought i would share this link, I like it and use it often

Looks like a pineapple xpress, but maybe cooler than most. I hope. There aint shite down here in my hood. Yes I can drive 4h and get the goods, but really got spoiled last spring w the bountiful snowpack locally. I beg for just some cooler temps, it was 82 here sat or sun!

(loaded sigh) Going to go seed the clouds for Ular.

Looks like the Sierra is gonna get pounded again, good news

Latest forecasts are showing cooler temps across the Sierra than the longer-term models were initially forecasting. Might have to reconsider a few plans I had for later in the week!

http://powdiction.tumblr.com/ - a good source for Sierra (although Tahoe-centric) snow forecasting info

For Deb: workin' the orange pants!

June Lake opener was schwingalicious. I took it easy on the knee, testing the waters, so to speak. Taping helped. Orange pants rocked the mountain. Demo'd the Dynafit Stokes (<3 <3 <3).

May have to think about stayin' local for the New Year holiday, let everything from this weekend/next week settle a little before... ;)

Just measured my roof... 13". It is coming down at a rate of about 2-3" per hour and the forecast is calling for a more intense level tonight through tomorrow eve... 6-8" per hour for a 10-12 hour period! That is at 8K'.

The QPF forecast for this entire storm has been jacked up as well from the original 10.2" to an amazing 14.9". Remember, at a 10:1 ratio, that equates to FEET not inches of snow. Oh shit!!!!!:

OH, almost forgot, the Hill has gotten 43" since this time yesterday...

YEE-HAW!!

Too much just plain rain down here, not interested in getting soggy to reach snow at 9K' but we're plenty excited about the ice that is forming at Lee Vining and June for New Year's!

Broke trail from Luther Pass up to East summit of Waterhouse Peak (9497 ) on Thursday ,Dec.16th . It was 17 degrees at 9am at the pass and overcast with no wind. There was 2+ feet of unpacked powder over a good base coverage to the summit . Mellow descent with bowls and trees to Grass Lake . Passed backcountry skiers crossing Hwy.50 below Ralston Peak on drive to Luther Pass. Wonder if they were the people who triggered the avalanche posted on Sierra Avalanche Center site ?
