1995 had an identical 178% of usual snowpack and opened on June 30th (Friday before July 4th weekend). I'd guess the exact same date this year.

Dang, I think I was the only one who knew about that page. Now you've filled everyone in on my secret.

Though I know Sonora pass typically opens a couple of weeks before Tioga, is there anyone who has actual news as to how far along Caltrans is with clearing 108?

Spoke to a guy who went over Carson Pass a few days ago and said the snow walls by the road were something like 9 ft high if that's any indication.

Mammoth Mt. just recently sent a couple of snow cats up to Tioga to help with the snow removal

July 1st is my guess. Based on what one of the snow plowers told me (i was dayhiking Dana from power plant rd parking lot).

Just posted this on the other thread. Caltrans will keep the lower gate closed until 120 is finished. Current estimate is June 30.
