Quite awhile back, a year at least I think

Dingus asked an elf to delete his account in October of 2010. He was not banned or asked or encouraged to leave. Since he left of his own volition, he is also welcome to return if he so chooses.

DMT spent about a year earlier -- maybe around 2008-9 -- in self-imposed exile. Back then, he wanted elves to delete everything of his, but instead his profile was just in stasis. Like The Chief, he gave good beta and advice, but got a little too emotional in arguments. Most of the time his discussion was neutral. He also said "Sierra" instead of "Sierras."

The story of how he acquired his name is quite interesting, and puts much in perspective.
