As people who visit these places often I think it is our duty to pick up visible garbage if we can. Thanks dskoon.

His find looks like from one of the walls. Probably Half Dome, since it is harder to haul stuff out and it collects more. Bottles fall all the time from climbers. I hefted out a pack of them when I was last on the slabs.

Art, I used a Panasonic Lumix ZS15 for that trip, but the zoom/focus seems to be becoming problematic (?). I'll be calling them today to price a repair, but I may end up just getting the next gen, ZS25.

I've repeatedly had problems with lens errors with the Panasonic lumix series. Best cameras with amazing picture quality, but they are hypersensitive to small things like one small speck of sand or dust. Very frustrating-gone through many of them so I finally settled on the Nikon shockproof waterproof. Picture quality is not great, but its lasted me for a few years now.

Yes, Bob is correct. I found these walking towards the base of the climb. They probably fell from hikers approaching base of the cables. These were not found at the base of the wall itself. Even though I found some plastic bottles/trash shoved deep in a few cracks on route, base of the route was clear of trash (talking about NW face). Hikers and climbers both leave trash from time to time though, and I am no saint...

Compared to other countries around the world I think US Americans do a pretty damn good job with taking own trash out etc. I love it.



I recently purchased Panasonic - Lumix DMC-ZS19K 14.1-Megapixel camera. Excited to try it out.

I counted nearly 20 wag bags prominently placed on the Whitney main trail today. Absolutely makes me sick!! I refuse to shit in the Whitney zone, so I don't need a wag bag.
Besides that - stepped in snow twice from parking lot to summit of Keeler. Amazing how much disappeared in 3 weeks. And windy?? Phew! Our tent got lifted off the ground last night with us in it ... Of course our total weight is only 230 lbs.
