Last I checked, the snow level was 8000+ in the trinity alps and none of the lakes were frozen over. I bet the bite is pretty hot now.

These pics were taken on last Sunday. I spoke to a person who did H/B Ridge with two children. According to him the crevasses on the way up were not visible. The road to NG TH without snow all the way and some water stream available around the base camp.

No, I did West Face Gully. Next weekend, however, I'm hoping to climb some glaciers. This Whitney slope looks interesting :)

I hope your leg strength is up... jumping those crevasses this year might take some extra distance!

Well, we'll see what I can do. But it’s better to have wider open crevasses than hidden, especially if the snow is not too hard.

The weather was beautiful over the last weekend. Whitney Glacier is basically a snowfield with many hidden crevasses well covered by thin and soft bridges (some icy). Most of the bergshrunds are filled up with snow but not hiding at all, very visible. Three of us partially fell in hidden crevasses. Self rescue was not a problem to get out of a hole though.

I saw two parties (2 and 6 persons) going down Cascades Gulch. I’m not sure what was going on with the second party but one of them was on a top of a wide bridge of a 10 foot crevasse for a long time.

I may add later some pictures and, perhaps, video.

It was the only lake melted out. I suppose it melts out first, which makes since it being the lowest one in the actual crater. Though I never noticed this as it is the only one you cannot see from the summit of Shasta.

Actually over 24 hours it grew quite a bit, and got perhaps 6 inches deeper.

Avalanche Gulch was in great shape when I climbed it last Thursday the 22nd. Camped at Helen Lake and found good snow up past Red Banks. Fun solo climb.
