Winter climbs in Tahoe area

Anyone have suggestions for climbs during the fall/winter (Sep-Dec) in the tahoe area? Just places to practice and train to eventually try Shasta in June.

Castle Peak, Pyramid Peak, Mount Tallac, Dicks Peak, Mount Rose, Round Top.

If you want longer options plenty of those too!

A while back I made this list of peaks... all are doable in winter...

I'm not sure whether the northern or southern end of Tahoe is more convenient for the OP, but the closest thing to Shasta I've done near Tahoe is Freel Peak from a neighborhood off Pioneer Trail, via Fountain Place--full day trip (on skis), more than 4000, maybe 4500 feet of climbing, ~15 miles round trip, and WINDY and cold for the last leg--Freel has a little of the above-everything-else exposure that makes Shasta weather so volatile.

yeah, no good ski mountaineers in Tahoe. Well, maybe a couple SC members.
