My question is road conditions for this time of year. Rte 168 is still "open" according to CalTrans.
Can anyone fill me in on current surface conditions. Planning a trip up Nov 20th. hoping for passable
road and easy return out Nov. 22nd.

A little early to be asking about conditions 10 days from now, but yes the road is clear right now. Trail conditions range from dirt, mud, frozen snow patches and ice. Temps will be dropping in a few days, so it's your best guess what will be happening in a week.

I'll be on a volcano in Mexico next week, but keep your eye on weather conditions up this way - it may snow the 16th.

The road up to Aspendell was absolutely fine this weekend, but the forecast doesn't look too good for you. If you go, whatever the conditions, watch out for deer! I saw quite a few of them hanging around.
