High Sierras Ice Conditions

Hello all,

I'm thinking of climbing Mt. Mendel via either the Right Couloir or Ice Nine at the end of the month or the beginning of June. Does anyone have any information about conditions on either of these two routes?

Thanks!
Michael

Climbed Pk 13172 on 12 May, this is as much of Mendel as I could see. Snow is consolidating and relatively easy travel in morning. Afternoon leads to shin-deep post-holing near Lamarck Col.

I was also thinking of hitting some of the ice really early this year due to the low snow pack. Below is a trip report from a ski forum. Looks like there is a lot of snow on North Peak. That being said the trip report I am referring to is from May 8th and its been warm over the last week. I did talk with a friend who skied Mt. Dana about that same time. He reported seeing ice in the Couloir. Good luck...
