Yosemite fire

Hoping that posting late is better than never, here's some of what wind from the south brought to the head of Virginia Canyon, about 10,000 ft elevation, on the afternoon of September 7. These pictures were taken almost 25 miles as the crow flies from Little Yosemite Valley.

These show views SE to Shepherd Crest, S to Gray Butte, SW to Stanton Peak and SSE toward Excelsior Mountain. I hear that things looked even more dire in Toulumne Meadows.

Shit, all fires when they harm people and their possessions are sad but Junes Lakes seems to always be a struggling town.

FYI: QT Luong, the maker of the video in fedak's post, is a well known large format photographer who was featured in Ken Burns' National Parks PBS documentary of a few years ago.
