So, opening date for 2016?

I'm going to guess Friday May 20th.

Status as of March 27, 2016

Lee Vining -> gate 4 miles west: Road is clear and open to traffic. Gate is closed cannot drive any further

Gate -> 8,000 feet: Road is snow-free, some rocks appear to be removed on a regular basis

8,000 feet -> Dam of Tioga lake: sometimes deep snow where we sank in if we didn’t wear snowshoes, sometimes no snow at all

Dam of Tioga lake -> Tioga pass: deep snow, snowshoes very useful

Tioga pass -> forest at bottom of hill: snowshoeing

Tioga Rd plowing begins Apr 18

For the sake of this little "bet", road OPEN is through the park.

I've seen noteworthy rumors indicating that driving plans for next weekend would be a safe bet. The road is open to bicycles this weekend and I suspect it will fully open next week. https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/tioga.htm

Ebbetts Pass opened today (Friday) midday and Sonora Pass may open midweek.

Edit:
Tioga Road will open May 18th at noon.

But will it then be closed over the weekend as heavy snow expected on Saturday and Sunday?
