Has anyone been up? I have permits for 5-16 and I was wondering if Langley is doable without ice/snow gear.

Thanks,

I'm wondering the same thing. I have a permit for June 3-5.

We just hiked Woolyback (peak just east of langley) last weekend. It was really dry up there and we didn't have to touch snow at all going up Wooly. We could see Old Army Pass from there. Bottom half was partially melted out, but the part up high where the trail goes in between that cliffy section was covered in snow. I would imagine you would want ice axe, crampons if the snow was still hard and maybe even if it wasn't. The rest of the route was dry. Didn't see New Army Pass.

However, high country is supposed to get 6-10" inches of new snow from the storm currently hitting the Sierra. Don't know if those figures will hold as far south as Langley, but even down here in Ridgecrest a chance of rain is in the forecast!

Here's a pic looking over at Old Army Pass and one towards Langley's summit.
