Great story and accomplishment. I enjoyed reading every bit of it.

Me and two life long buddies did Whitney in a very long day during late October just before we all turned 50. The ranger in Lone Pine had told us that most people don't make it but we were determined to prove her wrong, and we did. We started at midnight under clear skies and a full moon so we hiked the dark part of the approach without using headlamps. It was a magical trip.
