Hello,

I will be going to the Desolation Wilderness this weekend for some solo winter backpacking. Does anyone have any route or campsite recommendations, along with areas to avoid in terms of avalanche/tree well safety? I have an idea for my route, but I'm still taking suggestions.

what was your idea?
do you have goals to bag peaks or just find a cool place to camp?

going out across echo lakes is probably the safest route into Deso without humping a load up a lot of vertical
unless you're on skis I wouldn't want to snowshoe up from the basin (ie. Maggie's or Emerald Bay)
