gardiner basin from west

anyone have info on heading east up basin after descending gardiner pass, to access gardiner basin from what looks on map/sat to be a viable pass just nw of mt gardiner ?

I've used that pass a few times. It's a fine route, and saves a lot of time.

I concur. I scrambled over that NW gap on Gardiner a few years back. Class 2. Just pick a line and its yours. The way down into Gardiner Basin is fun and takes very little time. I saw it at first like you did on google earth and couldn't find any info on it. So, I just went and had a look. If you want an adventure, go over King Col during the same trip. King Col is a bit scary but I pulled it off with my wife and a friend and we made even though they were scared for most of it!!!
