This would be interesting to read about. Unfortunately the websites have no details.

Fortunately, as the speed record is lowered, there are fewer people who could possibly do it faster and, consequently, fewer attempts.

I would like to hike about 5 miles a day, do you think that would be fast enough?

I'm with Wally, I'd rather hold the record for the longest trip down the JMT.

I think Orland Bartholomew's solo winter ski trip of the trail ,Dec,25,1928 to April 3,1929 , is a much more interesting record. He also made the first winter ascent of Mt.Whitney . His classic trip is contained in "High Odyssey" by Eugene Rose . Doug Robinson & Carl McCoy repeated that journey in 1970.

I like it. Some people like to hike fast. Some like to hike really fast. It is obviously not for everyone. I am sure even going you fast you can take in the beauty. We all drive our cars and see cool shit. Orlando Bartholomew's trip was pretty amazing too.

Yeah. Right......

I like to hike 5 to 8 miles a day, and every 3rd day I stay parked and explore in detail the immediate vicinity of camp.
