Hi,

I am trying to make a plan for JMT from Bishop Creek to Whitney Portal Road.
Can someone tell me - the possible campsites along this routes and the approximate distances between them.
Since I am venturing out alone, I would like to stay in a designated campsites along the route to avoid any bear attacks and all that.

Thanks

Are you a 20 mile a day hiker or 10 mile a day hiker or what? There are certainly many camping opportunities in that section and really not any significant bear precautions necessary other than food storage at night. You will be required to carry a bear canister no matter where you camp. Possible six days - Deer Meadow, Twin Lakes (by Cedric Wright), near Center Basin north of Forester Pass, Guitar Lake, out.

A designated campsite just means the bears know where to find you

A bear is not going to attack you. I saw one guy on my trip that was using his food as a pillow lol.
