I just returned from an attempt to run to the summit of Wheeler Peak in the Taos region of New Mexico. Didn't make it because I was wearing trail runners (no crampons or ice ax) and opted to turn around rather than cross a snow-covered slope with significant exposure.

My question: I stopped on top of a peak that my GPS said was 13,042 feet high. Not Walter or Wheeler, as you can see from the attached pic. It's marked by the icon at the top of the image. Anybody know if it has a name? Thanks!

That's "unnamed bump with not much prominence," according to Peakbagger.com. Surprised how much snow you found in the Taos mountains.

Oh, well. Was hoping it had a name. But thanks for the answer.

Actually, there wasn't much snow, probably 1-4 inches with more blown into the trench that is the trail in many places there.

Not a lot if you're wearing books and crampons, but not so pleasant with wet trail runners.
