Is anyone aware or have a sense what the road conditions are like getting to the Monument Rocks in the winter? I know there are a few miles of dirt roads. Are they pretty slick or are they passable this time of year?

Should be fine in any passenger car, though you may not want to try immediately after a storm. There are farm houses nearby, so they do get used. But usually 2-3 days after a storm the snow has blown and drifted to the side of the roads. You probably will encounter some short muddy sections though.

Thanks for the info. It looks like you went through that area before. Any other suggestions on cool or unusual stuff? What about places to eat?

Yeah, I've been through that area several times. We ate at pretty good breakfast joint in Scott City, on the main east-west highway/street through town, east of the center of town. This was a couple years ago, so don't know if it's there anymore. Gotta check out Mt. Sunflower too!
