Hey been looking for a pair of pants that I can abuse the hell out of in cracks rubbing against rock and college keggers. The problem is most pants have unnecessary pockets on the side or are made from thin fabric that rips like a MF'er, synthetic not cotton. Also I want a jacket that can be rolled up into a micro ball and shoved in a micro pack but hoods are a must, maybe the montbell ul wind parka? Brand names don't usually do it for me so if you know of some guy in a garage let me know.

No nonsense? Keep it old skool. Painters pants! If Kauk rocked 'em, they must be good for climbin. For wearing to college keggers? Hmmm...not so sure.




On a more serious note, if you want good climbing pants check out Patagonia's Rock Guides. Made with a lightweight variation of their guide fabric they are wind resistant, UV proof, and generally awesome. Have beaten mine up for the past year plus and they just want more. Check the Gucci's Web Specials department, they come through there from time to time.

I've gotten hooked on Schoeller material pants for climbing. REI makes a cheaper model or you can go higher end with Mammut (which sometimes they have heavily discounted at Sierra Trading Post).

Best pair of pants I ever owned was Patagonia Talus pants. I know Patagonia makes something similar like the Simple Guide pant.

Sherpa Thamel for the jacket. 10oz with one chest pocket and two mesh waterbottle pockets on the inside. I got the orange and it's my favorite jacket.

Save some money.

-Scrubs, 70% cotton, 30% synthetic, same composition mix like Prana, they're tough, dry relatively well, and can take a ton of abuse, true and tested on offwidth, cracks, jams, cranks, falls.

Best part, the cost is about $10

-Windshirt, same deal, I recommend a Mt.Biking windshirt, why? B/C they're tough as nails for the weight (look at my profile pic, that's a Mt. Biking windshirt), most cycling windshirts will have an indicator rating "buffness" to what speed of wind it will block, also Mt Biking Jerseys HAVE to be tough since one will crash alot on rocks and roots at moderate to high speeds.

Again proven and tested on off-width (It's my go to jacket), cracks, jams, cranks, have had mine for over 4 years, no holes and blocks wind better than my buddy's Patagonia windshirt.

Can pick one up for less than $40
