Mt Whitney snow shovel
Posted: Mon Nov 10, 2014 8:09 pmHey everyone! I'm doing the MR route on Whitney this winter and was curious how important a shovel is? I'm trying to keep my kit weight down and would prefer not to bring one. Thoughts?

Posted: Mon Nov 10, 2014 8:22 pmnot mandatory but prudent; always useful in cutting out a camp site, but more so as part of an avy kit; there is some small danger in the approach to that route in Jan+. A collapsible weighs nothing; take it
