Patagucci guide pants

Hey guys,

I just got a pair of the pata guide pants as I need a nice pair of pants for winter stuff. I noticed that in the ankles there are some webbing loops. Does anyone know what these are for?

Attaching cord or wire to make a boot strap for the internal gaiters.
