La Sportiva Nepal EVO GTX - INCREDIBLY comfortable boot. Warm, breathes well, keeps my feet dry...I flirted with the idea of getting another boot for lower 48 winter climbing, and then realize I just wanted new trinkets, not needed. Handles very well on rock and ice.

Those three items, above all else I have used, have just given me my best winter yet in the mountains.
Only cloud on the horizon is whether the recent changes to the Manta have made them less strong and less supportive compared with the earlier versions I have.

Warm enough to be comfortable at 10,000 with wind, good enough breathing + venting zippers to work down low in the heat, good fit, perfect around the top of my boots, and suspenders are optional. I love them.

True. That's what I get for working from memory. Montbell lists it at 8.8 oz. Compare that to the REI Muir woods fleece that it replaced that REI lists at 23 oz and the Montbell piece is warmer.

- My mom's custom made silk liner. Goes on every trip....great by itself in warm conditions, adds an extra layer of heat in the sleeping bag....used by me in Asia where some rooms I was staying in had linen of questionable cleanliness...
- 3L water bladder.....
- Leki Makalu trekking poles.... I am able to hike with my left knee missing its ACL....to be fixed soon ....
- Icebreaker shirt...dont leave home without it...
