Hi, I just got a new Capilene 3 shirt from the Patagonia store in Soho and noticed the fabric looked very different from the previous Capilene 3 I have. It feels softer and there is a distinct difference in the interior and exterior fabric. Outside its a tight weave, smooth, looks VERY nice and inside its a porous weave with distinct spaces. IMHO its more effective in a wider temp range. Very nice.

I noticed that too on my long underwear. I have a 2008 pair and a 2010 pair. The capilene is the same (3) but the new pair are much softer. even the cut is a little more slim and form fitting.

Definately, the changes were for the better!

I like some of the changes but they also changed the seams and now my two month old shirt has fraying seams all over from getting snagged on the Velcro on my jackets or just getting rubbed by a pack strap! I like the fabric but not the seams.
