I did 70 pullups in 25 minutes yesterday...
It's a start I guess

Holy cow, tones of pulleys + 20# that’s really impressive . Just curious how long did it take for you to get all those pulleys each daySierra Ledge Rat wrote:Back in the day, I did 1,000 pullups almost daily. 10 sets of 10 with a 20-pound pack, 10 times a day, 5 days a week.
Dislocated my shoulder in a fall skiing the U-Notch. Multiple operations. No more pullups for me.
Fair enough….how about rope climbing for a little more corejschrock wrote:I'm convinced pull-ups are over-rated...and mainly result in overtraining injuries and muscular imbalance issues rather than any significant increase in grade limit. It's a nice party trick to throw down a ridiculous number of pull-ups but I can't remember the last time I climbed anything that required that kind of repetitive, brute force maneuvering to get up. It's an over-used term..but "core strength" trumps all imho...followed closely by forearm conditioning of course.

He mentioned something about being able to do a lot of pull-ups and promptly demonstrated 10 one-finger pull-ups on a pice of webbing hanging from the ceiling. IMPRESSIVE!
Holy Cow 50 is superb. I suspect that by the time you can do ~30+ pulleys you've gain most of the benefits. I also suspect that >99.9% of SPers could climb harder & benefit if they could "crack off 50" pulleys at a time. I know I could....besides Halloween is coming up and I need a new party trick….I too think pullups are overrated. I used to be to crack off 50 at one time. Didn't climb any harder then than when I stopped doing them. More of a party trick than anything.

Barry Bates, FFA of New Dimensions (.11a), a stout Valley classic. Also put up the stout Bates Problem on Columbia Boulder near Midnight Lightning.
