You can keep track of progress on the highway and other roads in GNP here:

Be sure to check out the photos - there are some really good shots.

They are reporting more snow than they have seen in 14 years...

They have announced that the road will be open on Wednesday, July 13. It should be really neat up there - check out the plowing photos...

Amazing photos Fred, thanks for posting them. Has the road ever opened later than the 13th?

I can't find an opening date history. The Pass typically opens around June 15.

I suspect that opening dates have generally become earlier as the type of equipment used to clear the road has improved, so comparisons might not be totally "fair" anyway.

I did read one article which claimed that this year they have encountered the most snow ever since they started plowing the road.

I've recently seen a report on the earliest opening date and the latest opening date, but I can't remember where I found it. If I can find it again I'll post it on here.

I found the information - this is the latest recorded opening since the inaugural opening of July 15, 1933. The previous latest opening since that was July 10, 1943, and that was because of a lack of personnel due to the war.

Thanks for the follow-up Fred.
This is proving to be a benchmark year in many areas of the West and it's starting to screw up my scheduling. Just cancelled my 2nd trip this summer because of it, #*%@!!
