Granite Peak, North Side conditions

Hi everyone

My wife Penelope and I are presently in Livingston, Montana, about to hike to Mt. Cowen. We have never been to this area before, but it looks to us that there is precious little snow, everywhere.

Would anyone know what the conditions are on the North side of Granite Peak? We planned to climb the Notch Couloir, III, 5.7 which includes a significant snow and ice couloir. We would not want to carry all that gear up there, if there is little or no snow/ice in the couloir.

If you have been to the North side and can provide some information, we would appreciate it very much.

Thanks, Alois and Penelope.

Welcome to town. I don't have fresh intel, but I do know that the Beartooths are a much different monster compared to the local mountains so I wouldn't rush to judgement based on that.

I'll ask around. Your intuition may be right.
