When I woke up this morning and checked SP shortly thereafter, I found over 120 spam "articles" and about 10 "albums" from more than 30 different accounts.

I cleaned that up, which was not a quick matter, but they were coming back even as I did it. And they have been back since.

It is way too easy to spam this site. I have also informed the other elves that I am not doing cleanup on this scale anymore unless some real changes are implemented, and I have outlined two different, specific ideas instead of just complaining.

Other members tired of seeing this stuff should speak up, especially if they have constructive suggestions.

i hate to point this out, but that's libel. while i agree with and approve of your zestful approach, that is technically an actionable statement.

i do agree it's becoming far too overwhelming to deal with. my suggestion was for some kind of quasi-mod role, where we as users could flag those items (id's, accounts, articles) that were clearly spam for further review by actual mods and hide them from general view. short of that, i am not sure. but i do agree something needs to be done. maybe all articles need to be rubber-stamped by a mod before they go live? and all profiles? not sure how many come in on a given day, so i have no idea how burdensome that would be...

Yeah, I know. I won't keep it there long.

My suggestions were manual account activation or a specially designed tool to allow quick and easy mass deletion of accounts.
