Research Investigating Climbers' Shoulders at Steadman
Posted: Tue Apr 02, 2019 7:20 pm
Hi Colorado climbers,
We at The Steadman Philippon Research Institute hope that spring is treating you well! Dr. Thomas Hackett is currently recruiting elite climbers for a study investigating long term changes in climbers’ shoulders. Currently, there is no standard algorithm for the management of shoulder pain in the climbing athlete. This study will provide a reference that will assist doctors in their clinical decision-making while treating shoulder pain in climbers. We are interested in studying elite level climbers (5.11 or greater) without shoulder pain or prior shoulder surgery.
We are looking for healthy climbers with at least ten years of experience and without a history of shoulder surgery to come the Steadman Philippon Research Institute for 1-2 hours to undergo a physical exam and MRI scan of their shoulders. We will be compensating participants with a 40$ gift card and a copy of their MRI images for their time. Please email me at jspratt@sprivail.org if you are interested or if you know someone who might be.
All the best,
James Spratt
