Whoa - amazing style! Lookat'im use those tools. His physical ability to process oxygen is...wow.

Why: Sponsors = Free Gear + $$$$$$.

That boy is way honed, he goes up hill as fast as I can go down hill....

That's pretty gnarly. While he appears to only a little faster than normal on the technical terrain, he just mows up the easier stuff. I like how he just runs along the summit ridge of the Matterhorn like he's running around the block. Eiger N. Face in 2 hrs. 47 min. Unreal.

Ueli is perhaps the top all round climber in the world today. He came within one fall on one wet, easy pitch of onsighting Golden Gate on El Cap this year. That's insane. INSANE. on his honeymoon none the less. Onsighted all the 5.13 pitches.

To prove that he's faster and/or better than everyone else, of course.

I think that's part of it (as is sponsorship--how else do you afford to climb most of the year?) but I also think alot of it is just personal challenge stuff--how good, how fast can I be, etc. Nothing wrong with that.

It's not "Spray" if you can back it up.

I am so impressed with the deeds of young climbers today.

Last winter I watched some french dude send a new problem on the cube in JT. Don't know what the "V" is, did not look harder than mid 5.12. 8) But it was wicked grainy, off the deck, very uneven rocky landing .... all with a running start and big jump.

Now to me this sort of climbing is a good way to die.

I had a great time watching him send that.

I like to watch climbers walking up climbs that destroy me.

Makes me think about just what is hard?

This guy just sent 3 of the greatest climbs from the "Golden Age" in like a "workday"

El Cap climbed in hours, 1/2 dome freed and solo, wow...

Thanks for posting this one, got more??

I suppose that's a fair point, but you don't have to be better than everyone else for it to be a personal challenge. You just have to be better than you once were. For example... let's say I'm perfectly happy that I can make it up the peak here faster than I did ten years ago - don't have to make sure I do it faster than other people.

Why do anything? Why run a marathon? Why climb a mountain to begin with? It's all stupid stuff.
That was so frakking impressive. Makes me want to climb harder and faster. (and buy a Suunto watch )

Just buy a Suunto compass... way cheaper (same way my only Arcteryx product is my $4 chalk bag belt)

He apparently trains with the Swiss Olympic center to maximize his performance, and looks like his anaerobic threshold is absolutely monstrous.

Edit: I bet he can easily run 5K

He went up some of those couloirs like they were ladders. Super impressive. If I ever get into blood doping, I'm taking it from that guy.

Thanks for posting Jose.
