Pokemon Go ...on Summits?

Two days ago I nearly crashed my bike into a teen weaving back and forth across the bike path, eyes glued to his phone, apparently searching for Pokemon with his Pokemon Go game. I salute the fact that this game is bringing kids outside, though I wish they would be a little more aware of their surroundings. Will we be seeing a new generation of 'climbers' hiking up mountains, searching for digital Pokemon, with eyes glued to phones? Or does the company that created this game limit where they 'put' Pokemon?

I predict a big rise in the number of candidates for the Darwin award in the near future.

I guess there are various articles on how the locations are determined but here are a couple:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/3 ... k-probably
http://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation- ... 62297.html

Which also suggest that you can look up where locations will be in advance and compare to topography if you like though you're more likely to find geocaches instead.

Josh,

Is that the infamous Washington "club" I see there? When I worked in the woods over on the coast I remember getting tangled up in that nasty stuff a few times.

It's not Devil's Club, I see that a lot more in the mountains. Sticker bushes got a bit nasty. Someone in the photo is actually playing Pokemon go, I was a spectator. Unfortunately the farther you go into the woods (no matter how close to a city we were) the more the monsters would disappear until there was nothing. While I'm guessing this was done for liability reasons, it does bring on the vibe of wanting to keep people in the city. :?
