Hope there are some pictures and stories of the eclipse crossing some amazing places. I would think the Tetons would be primo for an amazing stories. Any one have a mountaineering goal for Monday? Please post after event.

I'll be climbing in the wind rivers!!

Please capture some video or stills. Can you imagine being on the summit of the Grand Teton at totality?

Good for you! Look forward to hearing about it.

It's pretty amazing that the path of totality goes over so many popular peaks, including Jefferson, Borah, and the Grand. Like Matt, I plan to be on a peak, but am smart enough to avoid the popular ones.

A couple videos from the Tetons. I'm surprised that apparently no one fell off the Grand, given what must have been insane crowds.

I was up there, and the experience was amazing. Crowds were much lower than we had anticipated; there were 50 on the Grand, but we all had comfortable viewing spots. Rangers had estimated hundreds of people on the mountain that day. Some traffic went to the Middle Teton, the Enclosure, and the Lower Saddle instead.

Although I'm the type who doesn't like finding another party on a summit, I have to admit that this experience was totally worth it. Some friends had an extra permit and offered it to me, and I went at almost the last minute. No regrets at all.

I dragged my sister into the Sawtooths. Not nearly as many people as I expected, but still many more than I'd ever seen there before ...

That is a clear fake job photoshop work. Anyone who was in Oregon can see the obvious and telling reason why. It might as well be one of those street artist paintings. Studer is a fraud.

People will want to believe anything I guess...

What is clear about it? According to this story, a photographer named Ted Hesser scouted locations, timed the sun's location and worked in concert with climbers to get everything into the right position. Studer was there as well, but not the main one orchestrating everything. I have no doubt that a lot of post-processing went into the image, but I don't know enough to call anyone a fraud ...

Just look at it man. He might as well have cropped an eagle onto it as well. It even looks fake it is so overdone. This is a common sense item.

Of course a lot of processing went into it. It is computer generated... he says it wasn't... but that doesn't mean anything. And if you were there you would know the bright part of the sun would either be on the top right or bottom left. Impossible for it to be at the bottom right.

Guess what... when someone posts a photo and in the caption it says it is not photoshopped... that ALWAYS means it is photoshopped! Real photographers don't have to say that.
