Spotted this stone desk/chair in Lyell Canyon a couple of years ago, though it is really a boulder and not a talus field.

Re. the above. I don't know, are the kind of people that would hike out into the wilderness for fun the same kind of people that would push it off (assuming it's loose)? Also doesn't look like a piece of cake to get up and down there.

I see I’m not the only one interested in talus! I learned years ago that contour maps can be misleading; the steepness of a slope is just one factor in determining the degree of difficulty of a route. The specific nature of the terrain surface is important as well. Obviously, talus varies greatly in size, shape and composition; and talus fields have widely varying stability. I’ll try to find some relevant pictures to add to this collection.

We decided once to take a shortcut out of the Sawtooth area in northern Yosemite back to the trail head. Looked good on the map. Ended up climbing through a field of talus that were the size of houses. First and last time I made such a mistake.
