Yet because midwives don't have time to sit with women in early labour for more than a few minutes at most, we are encouraged to do the next best thing.

We offer them strong painkilling drugs such as pethidine or diamorphine - which is a form of heroin.

Drugs keep the mother nice and quiet which, of course, suits staff.

Welcome to the modern NHS maternity ward. A world of shoddy practice, poor hygiene standards and a shocking disregard for patients' individual needs.

Why do you hate Tony Blair?

Why single truchas out for that one Charles! :D

The UK system is not perfect. And the downsides do get a lot of bad publicity these days, such is the thirst of the media to find any big UK organisation to knock down. Such is life.

But our National Health Service does have a great deal going for it. At least so far as my own rather extensive personal experiences of it are concerned.

Don't worry Bryan, no of the critics here will listen to you. What do you know anyway? You only live there and have seen the system first hand. I've read similar criticism here about the "socialist" healthcare here in Canada.

Cheers my friend.

But if you ask a dog that has spent its whole life in a crate where he'd rather live, he'd say the crate as that is all he knows. No I am not calling my british friend a dog...just an analogy. I doubt Bryan has much nice to say about British Dentists, tho'.

I guess my point is that I've heard bullshit comments about the Canadian system. I know the Canadian system and I knew the comments were bullshit. If Bryan knows the British system, which I'm sure he does, I'm sure he can spot bullshit too. The crate comment can be redirected right back Americans BTW. Cheers.

But one thing is certain, the British system is not rated as highly as the French, which was rated as nr. 1 by the WHO! (The Danish was rated nr. 34! :( )

Not as many as we do here. And I am not sure if the culture there is to have a kid just after puberty. It's sad, but many here have kids as soon as possible in order to get free government welfare and a free pass to their illegal parents to be able to stay in the U.S. (anchor babies).

You should see the illegals in line at the recorders office to pick up birth certificates for their Anchor Babies. Norwalk Ca the line can wrap around the building with babies in strollers and no one speaks english and yes they are very young.

Yep, it's really sad. But if you mention anything about it, the radical libs will just throw out the race card, even though their policies are are the ones that are racist.

Fuck you dude...I'm so sick of your slander...Republicans, like yourself, are far more racists than any of the liberals I know...but what do I know, just what my eyes and ears tell me I guess...you must be fucking delusional or paid by the fucking republican party...I don't wish you any ill will, except maybe he inability to speak, we would all benefit...

Man, quit feeding the troll! Every time you react like this, you're doing exactly what he wants. You're just encouraging the asshole to post more of his stupid shit.

Where's that list?

Here: http://www.photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html

Note that the UK is number 18, not bad, but a good deal lower than France.

What you should note here, is that Denmark, with its nearly completely socialized system isn't rated much higher (34). Actually, none of the Scandinavian countries, so proud of their socialized systems, are among the ten best (Norway nearly makes it as number 11, but then they are swimming in oil money).

As our doctor, who is an American, that studied in Denmark, and practiced there and in Sweden for many years, says, "I never met anybody here who said they missed the health care system of where they came from!" (His patients here are largely Scandinavian, British and a few American immigrants, although he also has French patients, as he speaks French fluently.)

Who cares about the stupid Scandinavians? Those are the same lib dumb asses that gave Barry Hussein Obama the Nobel Peace Prize! I think we should turn all of Scandanavia into a parking lot and steal their oil.

We're Amurica damn it, and we're the best at everything. The only reason why our health care isn't #1 is because the rest of the world is jealous and they hate our way of life.
