Hey Mr Dude,

Be careful around those Potato Bugs! I was teasing one and it bit my glove with its powerful jaws. Wow, I could really feel the pinch.

Is that what it is?? When we were doing survey he kept looking at me like he wanted to fight me LOL I picked him up and that photo was the only time he was not on his hind legs trying to attack the ruler. :lol:

I've been trying to figure out what the heck he was for forever

The dog and I had a big day for birds of prey in the woods yesterday--Cooper's, red-shouldered and redtailed hawks, two golden eagles and a bunch of turkey vultures. We spotted both short-eared and screech owls. It's weird to get the screech owls around noon (they're nocturnal).

Also red-bellied and downy woodpeckers and northern flickers. And an army of songbirds (nuthatches, chickadees and various flycatchers were the most common), Canada geese and some mallards.

None are unusual but I've never seen so many in one hike. Even the dog stopped looking for squirrels to watch the hawks.

Didn't see Joy, but did see something I've never seen before in Colorado-a river otter. Amazingly, it was in the Cache La Poudre River, right in the city of Fort Collins. Blew my mind!! :shock:

Yesterday I saw a bear on the trail just above Baldy Village. They like to come down to trash the trash cans. Here is one bear I would stay far away from (video)

I'e seen so many...but the most impressive was a bunch of wild horses while i was treeplanting in northern alberta...condors in chile were very nice too ! and i've seen a bunch of college students at the top of mt washington after 2 weeks of hiking crossing new hampshire, we probably looked like animals for them since they were all so clean getting out the bus...i think our smell and mudfull gaiters and boots disgusted them...was quite funny though...

Hiking in the Bob Marshall Wilderness in Montana USA, I walk up on a Sow Grizzly with 2 cubs. We saw each other at the exact same time at a distance of about 30 yards. Lucky for me she turned tail and ran. The outcome could have been way different. I wouldn't have wanted to hurt the Bear. lol
