Anything by British Sea Power. Most modern music tends to be very urban or suburban, but BSP's music really gives the impression of wild places.

Not at all surprised you like Zappa, Capt. B.

BTW, I used to play your namesake's music occasionally on the late-shift at WTUL FM in New Orleans. Great town for music.

But, I'm a creature of habit. Give me the most recent "Dead Pod", and I'm a happy camper. It's perfect Alpha (mountaineering) music to my ears! Listening to a live concert from 20-30 years ago while doing the suffering part..... AMAZING!

You mean like "'April Love" or "Tutti Fruti"? One is a sincere Pat Boone and the other is a pathetic cover of Little Richard.

Listened to Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong in the back country once during a clear night. Brings a whole new meaning to the song

Must experience "Fearless" at high volume, driving through southeast Utah. And "Echoes" is always good for a nice "trip" of course.

Once again I have to say Railroad Earth is to me the best way to get in the mood for some wilderness travel.
