Winter high point plans, lets hear them folks!

Myself, non, I'm too busy, although the SP cavalcade that did the Kings Peak trip this past summer may nail out another next summer!

I'll be doing some local peaks this winter. Already have snow at 11 thousand feet and above.

Mauna Kea for me.

Hiked a couple catskills 3500ers today via devils path that was fun and first hike in some time. 2014 I did not get any high points due to wife and I welcoming a baby back in March so that kept me busy. This winter I was given new snow shoes so looking for something to use them on in catskills or daks whenever I get chance. For 2015 I am planning on getting back to it with Il and IA in June while "nearby" for cousins wedding, something in July, then Hawaii in October for 10 year wedding anniv (although we went to Maui for honeymoon I suggested it may be nice to try a different island perhaps the Big Island where there may or may not be a certain mountain). Yes, I hope to get out for Gannett next summer with Hotoven. Probably not a lot of winter activity for me....I want to get up to the Pinnacle on the PA AT before the leaves are all gone.

Frank, I hope to join you guys next year as it will be my 48th.

Sigh... Winter has finally arrived in Colorado with a foot of fresh snow expected in the mountains. Everything gets much tougher this time of the year. Most of our lists are difficult to progress on during November-April. All we can do is work on the second and third lap state highpoints in NV and CA. Perhaps we can knock off a few more Ultras along the way. I can't wait till next summer comes around....

It has become a lot more active than this thread. The good thing about a forum like this is the ease of searching for information. The good thing about FB is the ease of posting photos. I did cross-reference SummitPost on the FB page.

No responses on FKT, but plenty of views. No record here or on the FB Highpointers page, either. I did connect with a guy that did the Southern Six Pack in winter over 9 days. So that's the record we'll be trying to beat.
We will leave northern Ohio on Dec. 26 heading straight for Clingmans Dome. That's 15.5 miles roundtrip of hiking so should be a good start.

haha, thanks. only doing five though, not fifty. 43 days is insanely fast.

Completed the Southern Six Pack in winter in:

1 Day, 13 Hours, 51 Minutes, 30 Seconds. December 27-28, 2014.

I never saw any signage outside of staying out of certain ceremonial areas that would keep you from going to the final summit. The last portion of the hike does follow the road, no way of getting around this, for the final 8/10 of a mile and it is brutal. Plenty of drivers making the final hike up the cone and I saw no signs at all near this portion.
