I'm still debating the SP gathering at Marcy. I don't have the technical tools for ice climbing, but it was a damn lot of fun the few times I've done it. I'd like to do more.

Keep your eyes peeled on SP gear. I have gotton two great pairs of tools hardly used and only a year or two old for both 65% off retail. I sold one pair to a friend and kept the other. So be on the look out, you can get a great pair for around 200 if you wait enough.

What Holsti said was right too. The part from Sassafras to Brasstown Bald is probably the prettiest stretch of your trip. Slow but really nice scenery.

It was around Oct. 14th or so. I sent him a PM because all his pages were up for adoption and I wanted to know why and he never got back to me. Bob gave me NJ highpoint page though. There was a lot of drama issues going on with SP at that time as well. (well there always is) I was sad because I had talked with him quite a bit and he was a really cool guy. I still miss him!

It's amazing what you can find online with a simple web search. I wonder if this is Mark. There are references to wife, kids and camping in there...

I skimmed through a few pages and from I was able to glean, if this is him, he had a (slight) spinal fracture followed by some challenges with pain meds. If he ever checks back here, I wish him all the best.

Sorry to hear about Catamount. Didn't know him personally but he certainly contributed a lot to SummitPost. Hope to see him back here some time soon!

To get some chatter going I'd figure I'd ask what is your favorite Highpoint that you've done yet and why? Of the 11 I have accomplished I would say Wheeler Peak, NM (Bull of the woods trail) is my fav just great varied terrains and enjoyable all be it long hike.

I'm planning to do Wheeler Peak next year...
Favorite HP: Denali
Least favorite: White Butte SD

You'll enjoy it as long as you get perfect weather like I did and its short compared to Denali. My least favorite would have to be Delaware.

Favorite (whimsical): Kansas - Mt. Sunflower
Favorite (for the route & scenery): Maine - Katahdin
Least Favorite: Mississippi - Woodall

Favorite West Coast = Rainier
Favorite Mid West = South Dakota (did a fun class 4 bushwhack scramble to the top)
Favorite East Coast = Mt. Michelle (I had a fun time with very good friends there)

My favorite that I've done so far has to be Boundary in NV. It was a slog and a half and I had stomach problems the whole way up and down, but the weather was beautiful and clear and so far it is the highest point I've actually climbed to.

I don't think I honestly have a least favorite. Maybe Frissell. I did it with a friend in winter and we postholed our way there and back.
