Thanks squishy. I've read the books and seen the pics from these epic climbs. It's great to see the footage.

Thanks for that!

I like his bit about human inferiority to other animals and that being a basis for the development of human intelligence.

One thing I didn't understand though, and if someone could clarify that'd be great. Who/What/When was he talking about when he said some dude "shit on him" when he was snowblind, and he still hasn't forgiven him? It's around the 40th minute. Peter Habeler? He lied about Messner?

Thanks for the link. Great footage, amazing stories. I read his books but seeing the video clips is even more awe-inspiring.

The whole documentary is very inspiring. I especially liked his words at the end "It's not important what you have, it's important what you have done". Great words.

Thanks! That was very interesting. I want to go to the Dolomites now.

I really enjoyed that. Now I must read some of his books. He has a very thoughtful and elegant way of speaking of the mountains and climbing.

I can't access Hulu either, but googling gives these. I guess they are the same. (Could someone from the US confirm?)

The first one is the same as the Hulu one, and the second one just loaded a white page.

Good documentary. I found the comments about his father and South Tirol at the end of WW2 interesting. It was lost to the Austrians after WW1 and that pain was deep seated there - even today with some.
He´s a man that has done much and has vision. He was also a member of the European Parliament for the green party. I thought his opinion of Bonnigton´s achievements both generous and true too.
