I guess the reports of it's demise are greatly exagerated.

What is to be made of this? SP at the top of the climbing site rankings whilst SP members move toward 30 pages of discussing "Is SP Doomed?"

Ed Viesturs website comes in at 136th... that's not a climbing website, that's retail...

Agreed. If climbing were as popular as say football, I would be impressed. (Although its nice to be a member of the #1 climbing site!) And where is this SP is doomed thread, I feel stupid missing key threads like this once in a while.

My goodness! You have been missing out. We even had one member pretend to threaten to leave the site!

Ohh wow, now that would be devastating! I'll try to read it this weekend instead of my boring American history text book. (This is our 3rd week on the Gilded Age! ):D

Number 102 on the list is www.Iowa.de! Now why would the Germans create a website about Iowa and how could it have anything to do with climbing? I think it must be some kind of trick perpetrated by Paddlemybottom.

Hast du nicht gehört zu der herrlichen Bergwelt des nördlichen Iowa?

My father grew up in western Iowa, and when I was a kid we went out there every summer, so you aren't going to fool me into thinking that there any mountains out there.

SP is not doomed at all! Most major mountaineers check out the website even if they are not active contributors. In my almost 9 years on this site I have seen the "doomed" thread pop up a number of times. SP might have some quirks but it is great site which has had a HUGE influence on my life. I have made MANY friends on this site and actually work my current job and live in my current city in large part because of this site. The site has also tremendously helped my mountaineering and hiking skills and helped me dicover places I never would have thought about hiking in. That stat just proves what many of us already know about this site.
