What is the elevation at which you live?

Me, I live at exactly 2,185 feet above sea level (or 666 metres) 8)

In Poland, the highest regular habitation is Głodówka (Brzegi) in the municipality of Bukowina Tatrzańska at 1115-1140 metres (3,660 - 3,740 ft)

In the whole of Europe, there is very little habitation at elevations over 1,000-1,200 metres (3,280-3,940 ft) even in the south. Cities such as Denver or Salt Lake just don't exist on the old continent...

But as summitpost has membership from Colorado, Bolivia and even China, it would be interesting to see where the majority of them reside, up high, or way down low...

Interesting poll.

I live at the ocean, maybe 30ft. above sea level. Taking my monthly trips to the Eastern Sierra, i'm going from sea level to 11Kft.+ in under 36 hours. Not ideal acclimatization conditions, and my body let's me know.

I don't think it really counts as climbing a 14er unless you are acclimated to sea level.

I do disagree with places like Gorak Shep, Dingoboche, etc. as not being inhabited year round. In the past, this was true, but not anymore. Gorak Shep may be too small to be a town though. This is not true of Dingboche though. It's probably the 2nd largest town in the Khumbu, after Namche Bazaar, though this is just a guess.

:D

I live at 30.01 metres but my spellchecker doesn't like it. It's happier with my 2 meters, one for water, one for electricity.

Cabramurra is Australia's highest permanently settled township at 1488 metres (4880 imperial feets)

Lookin' like I am the only real Mountain MAN here! (OK, maybe I'm the only "Old Man of the Mountain" here). Someone's got to be higher than I am!
