PolyPro allergy

Purchased a new Terramar Polypro base layer and after wearing it for a couple of hours I break out in a rash. Washed it a few more times and get the same result. Anyone else experience this? I've worn polypro before with no issues.

I'm the most allergic person on the planet (seriously, I have a crazy disease) and polyester/polypropylene have never caused me problems. Maybe it is the dye?

Is it a stretch fabric? If so, it may have latex in it and that may be what you are allergic to. Lycra and Spandex both contain latex. I react a bit to the latex in liner socks, especially in the summer - the thin fabric brings the latex closer to the skin than it is with other clothing that contains elastic. For me, it is not really a problem but can be eliminated by taking an antihistamine.

They treat a lot of PolyPro with different chemicals to make it stink and / or stain resistant. It could be one of those rather than the PolyPro itself.

I'm leaning toward the dye/chemicals. Guess I'll just wash it with a bunch of other loads and test it again in a few weeks. Sucks because the rash itches and hangs around for days after. Whatever it is....my body sure doesn't like it! Thanks for the responses.

Sounds like they do use a treatment.
