Hi all, I've just joined the forum and am looking for some advice.

I have returned to mountaineering this year and have climbed Mont Blanc and Kilimanjaro. I'm now looking for a 6000m+ peak to attempt next year. I'm comfortable with crampons/ice axe etc but have no real rock climbing experience. Can anyone give me some suggestions as to what may be suitable?

I've so far been looking at Stok Kangri, Chimborazo and Aconcagua but am open to other suggestions.

There is always Denali in Alaska, Untied States, although you would need to learn to speak American and do some cold weather camping to prepare.

Are you looking to go unguided for guided?

There are lots of possibilities, but some popular choices for those with similar experience would be Mera Peak (Nepal), Island Peak (Nepal), Chachani (Peru), Copa (Peru), Huayna Potosi (Bolivia), Illimani (Bolivia), Parinacota (Bolivia-Chile), etc.

Mine would probably be Fitzroy or the Great Trango Tower, though it'd have to be another lifetime.

To the OP, there are lots of big, non-technical peaks all over. I'd figure out where you've been itching to go (e.g., South America, Asia) and see what's there. When you say you're looking to do a 6,000K+ peak, it sounds like you're working toward taller objectives, so figure out what your objectives are and then plan accordingly.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. Point taken about other peoples' challenges fatdad but I just wanted some suggestions as I'm not sure myself what I want to do next.

I feel Asia calling though so maybe Island Peak or Mera Peak will fit the bill...I guess I'll keep on looking.
