I have a lot of friends who have climbed in New Zealand. One summed it up thusly: "I traveled half way around the world to climb in Washington State."

It was more humor.
My friends Grandma is from western China and speaks no English. We went to their house for a traditional meal and I wasn't thrilled. It was edible, and a couple of things were tasty, but for the most part I'd rather not. All that being said, there's a crap ton of stuff there to climb! If that rules out cheesy oysters on the half shell then I'm changing my plans to British Colombia.

Posted: Wed May 13, 2015 11:56 pmI'd like doing a year on each of the continents other than Antarctica (still want to go but much briefer) It'd be more multisport adventuring in nature but with plenty of mountains I daydream often about it.

I'd love to go back to Peru, climb in Antarctica, and see the Himalaya at some point... but other than that... I've been very fortunate...
But it'd be pretty tough to beat a USA road trip, checking off the national parks, baseball stadiums, concerts, food/beer, etc... probably be even more fun for you young single guys... hee hee
